Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
Alexei Ramirez saw a 3% increase in his line drive rate in 2010 from where it was in 2009. Hitting the ball with greater authority helped Alexei top his career high in doubles and extra base hits.
While the line drive rate went up 3%, the already low walk rate went down almost 4%. Ideally fantasy owners would like to have Alexei at the top of the batting order, but that number is killing his chances. Juan Pierre led the world in steals and is a safe bet to hit first again. Gordon Beckham had a .380 OBP after the break and Alexei had just a .321 OBP after recess, so one would think that Beckham has a leg up on hitting second.
Projection: In the month of July, Alexei had a .920 OPS. He did not have an OPS better than .780 in any other month.
76 R 17 HR 79 RBI 12 SB .279 AVG .758 OPS
