Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove Says:
Angel Pagan was one of the biggest factors in mixed leagues as a free agent last season. Even as he was tearing it up as the sixteenth best player in Yahoo for the month of May, Pagan still had his skeptics. After all he was basically on the Mets roster as a fourth outfielder. As Carlos Beltran sat out longer and Jason Bay's struggles and concussion put him out longer than anyone could imagine he became the team's best outfielder.
He led the Mets in average and steals while being the team's top outfielder in both RBI and home runs. There are those who will say that much like Carlos Quentin, Ryan Ludwick, and many before them that he will never again reach the status of being a top 15 outfielder. The numbers say otherwise. Pagan's .331 BABIP and line drive rate were right on par with his BABIPs from his brief stints in 2008 and 2009. And it's hard to argue that his steals are due to come down despite the fact that last year he was stealing at a rate greater than ever.
For the moment Beltran and Bay are locks to start in the Mets outfield. Additionally Fernando Martinez awaits his opportunity. If Pagan should falter, despite all his success in 2010, the Mets will have a short leash. Of course injuries, trades, and maybe even performance could change that.
Pagan also struggled in the second half - most notably with his strikeout to walk ratio. Keep in mind last year was his first full season in the majors, so perhaps teams learned to adjust to him as the season wore on.
Projection: Pagan has been called Crazy Horse for his poor judgment at times by his coaches, but it isn't crazy to think he can perform at a high level again this season.
77 R 13 HR 71 RBI 40 SB .281 AVG .770 OPS

KFFL Says:
Pagan's 2010 line (.290 batting average, 11 homers, 37 steals) is in accordance with his 2009 output and, in general, that of his career, with some progression taken into account. He always missed the chance for extensive PT because of various other factors - notably, serious health problems. His 2011 draft price will probably be more a result of skepticism, but injuries are a greater issue. It doesn't matter what crafts the cost if you're willing to pay it, but it may make you more willing to pay it.

Razzball Says:
It’s appropriate that he falls right next to Torres in the rankings because they’re pretty much the same player. Took a while in the minors because of injuries, does have some slight power and good speed, and he’s older than most guys who just get on the scene. I really don’t like one more than the other. Could’ve put Pagan above Torres. They ended up this way because Pagan has a bit less power. I would not draft both on the same team. Unless I was trying to lose. Then I would. 2011 Projections: 75/9/45/.280/25
